Title: Director of Sales – Commercial Interiors & Design

Location: Phoenix, AZ – On-Site / Local Candidates Only

Compensation: $90,000–$120,000 Base + Incentives/Commissions

Position Overview

Phoenix Staff is seeking a Director of Sales for an established organization in Phoenix specializing in commercial interiors, workplace solutions, and project-based environments.

This is a hands-on sales leadership opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in commercial interiors, contract furniture, architecture and design, construction, or related industries. The ideal candidate understands relationship-driven, project-based sales and has experience building business through architects, designers, general contractors, developers, commercial real estate professionals, and corporate clients.

The Director of Sales will lead an established sales team, drive revenue growth, strengthen sales processes, and develop strategic relationships throughout the Phoenix market. This individual must be comfortable balancing sales leadership with active business development, key account management, and involvement in complex commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the sales team, providing coaching, performance management, and accountability to achieve revenue targets.
• Drive new business development within commercial interiors, workplace solutions, construction, architecture and design, and related markets.
• Build and maintain relationships with architects, interior designers, general contractors, developers, commercial real estate professionals, and corporate decision-makers.
• Identify and pursue commercial projects, workplace renovations, tenant improvements, office buildouts, and other project-based sales opportunities.
• Manage strategic accounts, major pursuits, and complex sales opportunities from initial relationship development through project award.
• Establish sales goals, KPIs, pipeline expectations, and forecasting processes to improve sales execution.
• Strengthen referral networks and partnerships with architecture and design firms, construction companies, and other industry stakeholders.
• Coach sales professionals on consultative selling, relationship development, opportunity management, and closing strategies.
• Collaborate with design, estimating, project management, operations, and installation teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Monitor market activity, construction and development trends, and competitive opportunities throughout the Greater Phoenix area.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable sales culture focused on long-term client relationships and sustainable revenue growth.

Qualifications

• Progressive B2B sales experience, including sales leadership or team management responsibilities.
• Professional sales experience within commercial interiors, contract furniture, workplace solutions, architecture and design, commercial construction, or a closely related project-based industry.
• Proven success developing business through architects, designers, contractors, developers, and commercial clients.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold sales teams accountable for revenue performance.
• Experience managing complex, consultative sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, customized solutions, proposals, and project timelines.
• Strong background in business development, strategic account management, and relationship-based selling.
• Experience managing sales pipelines, forecasting revenue, and implementing measurable sales processes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with design, estimating, project management, and operations teams.
• Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Hands-on leadership approach with a willingness to remain actively involved in client relationships and major opportunities.

Preferred Skills

• Existing relationships within the Greater Phoenix architecture, design, construction, commercial real estate, or commercial interiors community.
• Experience selling commercial furniture systems, interior solutions, workplace environments, or construction-related products and services.
• Familiarity with commercial construction project lifecycles, including bidding, specifications, proposals, project awards, and installation.
• Experience working with architecture and design (A&D) firms, general contractors, property owners, and corporate facilities teams.
• Proven success growing market share and developing referral networks within a project-driven sales environment.
• Understanding of how sales, design, project execution, and customer experience contribute to repeat business and long-term account growth.
