Job Title: Assembler - Industrial Equipment Manufacturing Job Description
This role is responsible for assembling and building industrial machinery and equipment in the final assembly department. You will use hand and power tools, read blueprints and work instructions, and work with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components to produce high-quality finished products. The position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with tools, wiring, and assembly drawings in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities

• Assemble machinery and equipment according to work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
• Retrieve parts and components from inventory and transport materials to the assembly area.
• Wire motors, electrical components, and air-operated switches according to diagrams and standards.
• Install and connect mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical parts to complete equipment assemblies.
• Fit, align, and secure components to ensure proper operation and adherence to quality standards.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures to complete assemblies accurately.
• Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy, quality, and functionality, making adjustments as needed.
• Assist with troubleshooting and rework of assemblies when issues or defects are identified.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop and safety guidelines.
• Support other production and assembly functions as needed to meet overall manufacturing goals.

Essential Skills

• Previous assembly, manufacturing, production, or mechanical experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and assembly diagrams.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools in an assembly or mechanical environment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with wiring, including wiring motors, electrical components, and switches.
• Comfort using measuring devices such as tape measures to ensure accurate assembly.
• Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and wire assembly.
• Familiarity with production environments and standard manufacturing practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of assemblers and production staff.
• Comfort working with mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components in the same assembly.
• Willingness to assist in other areas of production as needed to support team goals.

Work Environment
This position is based on the production floor in a standard manufacturing environment, working closely with a team of roughly 20-30 employees. The role involves using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices while assembling mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components. The shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with occasional overtime (typically less than five days per month). The team operates in a culture that values efficiency, productivity, and family-first priorities, supported by a very tenured staff and a stable workforce. The organization is experiencing significant growth and will be moving to a new facility nearby next year, offering a modernized work setting. Dress code includes jeans, steel-toed footwear, safety eyewear, and company-provided shirts; contractors may wear work-appropriate shirts that meet safety and professionalism standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
