Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor oversees employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements to production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions in a Tier 2 automotive parts machining operation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise production and assembly employees in a manufacturing environment, providing clear direction and hands-on support as needed.
• Plan, schedule, and assign daily work to meet production targets, customer requirements, and quality standards.
• Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines on the production floor.
• Monitor production processes and equipment performance, identifying issues and taking corrective action to minimize downtime and defects.
• Recommend and support improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Lead and participate in troubleshooting efforts for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and CNC machine-related production issues.
• Coordinate and oversee preventive maintenance activities to keep equipment in good working order and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Support maintenance management efforts by communicating equipment issues, maintenance needs, and repair priorities.
• Use PLC troubleshooting skills to help diagnose and resolve control system issues impacting production.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation to ensure proper machining, assembly, and quality standards are met.
• Teach, train, and develop staff, providing coaching and guidance to build skills and improve performance.
• Promote a culture of quality, supporting quality management practices and standards in all production activities.
• Utilize Excel and basic computer systems to track production data, prepare reports, and maintain documentation.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate work, share updates, and resolve problems.
• Demonstrate strong planning, leadership, and supervisory skills to motivate the team and maintain a positive, productive work environment.

Essential Skills

• 12 years of manufacturing experience in a production or assembly environment.
• Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
• Proven ability to teach, train, and develop staff in a production environment.
• Experience in or exposure to quality management practices preferred.
• Strong maintenance supervision capabilities with an understanding of maintenance management principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and CNC machine problems.
• Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance activities in a manufacturing facility.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
• Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve control system issues.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Demonstrated management and supervisory skills, including team leadership and performance oversight.
• Effective planning and leadership skills to organize work and drive results.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across teams.
• Proficiency with Excel and basic computer systems for data entry, tracking, and reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in quality management and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
• Experience working in a production and assembly environment within the automotive industry is an advantage.
• Prior experience in a Tier 2 supplier environment or machining operations is beneficial.
• Comfort working with CNC machines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related industrial equipment.
• Ability to provide hands-on support on the production floor while maintaining supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing and assembly environment focused on machining automotive components such as steering knuckles, carriers, and differential cases. The position is on 2nd shift, typically from 5:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., with some flexibility as production needs require. The work involves regular interaction with CNC machines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical equipment, and PLC-controlled machinery. Team members work in a fast-paced, production-oriented setting that emphasizes safety, quality, and efficiency. Appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment are used to ensure a safe and professional work environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Jeffersonville, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $82200.00 - $87400.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
