In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The HVAC equipment you will be servicing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers. Come be a part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive our every endeavor!Location: Minneapolis, MNWhat You Will Do:Supervise up to 10 HVAC TechniciansPerform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubesRepair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiringMaintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacksPerform intermediate to advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazingConduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality for all HVAC equipmentEducate technical and non-technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual usageLead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units including the direction of apprentice level technicians through hands-on demonstration of the necessary stepsProgram new control systems using touchscreens and computersDocument actions taken on the jobsite to be included with project reportDirect discussions with customers and building owners to assist with ongoing maintenance and serviceInteract with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call and explain technical information to technical and non-technical audiencesIdentify and quote opportunities for minor repairs directly to the customerRecord and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely mannerDownload programs into commercial HVAC equipment and Micro controllers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performanceParticipate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off-site learning modulesMaintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill setsEnsure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheldComplete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelinesWhat's In It For You:Factory Certified Training, Refrigeration Certification or other professional on the job training in the HVAC IndustryThe opportunity to work on all types of commercial equipment and cutting-edge technologies such as Intelligent EquipmentDaikin Applied provides technicians with company vehicle, laptops, mobile devices, and other technologiesThe ability to make an impact and shape your career with a company that is passionate about growthThe support of an organization that believes it is vital to include and engage diverse people, perspectives, and ideas to achieve our bestThe opportunity to work for a leading innovator in HVAC and make a difference in environmental initiatives to create a more sustainable world for allMinimum Qualifications:5+ years related experience with increasing responsibility; or 7+ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experienceAccepted as Foreman by the unionHigh School Diploma or GEDTechnical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experienceValid Driver's License and acceptable driving recordRotational Emergency Call SupportRequired license(s) and/or training card as required by local law districtWork visa sponsorship is not available for this positionPreferred Qualifications:Member of local union or willing to join the unionCommercial HVAC Industry ExperiencePrevious experience in mentoring less experienced techniciansOSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)Current first aid / CPR cardThe expected hourly rate for this position is $55 - 63 in MN.
