Biologics Coordinator / Patient Support Specialist

Position Summary

The Biologics Coordinator provides administrative and patient support for biologic medication services. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients, specialty pharmacies, and clinical staff, ensuring accurate documentation, timely communication, and efficient coordination of biologic therapies.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for incoming patient calls, messages, and inquiries related to biologic medications.

• Conduct outbound calls to patients regarding appointments, medication status, insurance updates, and other non-clinical matters.

• Prepare biologic consent forms and verify all required documentation is complete prior to patient appointments.

• Maintain accurate patient demographic and insurance information, communicating updates or discrepancies to the appropriate team members.

• Scan, upload, and manage biologics-related documents within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

• Monitor incoming faxes, electronic communications, and correspondence, ensuring timely routing to the appropriate personnel.

• Collaborate with specialty pharmacies to track prescription processing, shipment status, refill requests, and outstanding documentation.

• Coordinate medication deliveries and maintain accurate shipment records.

• Track medications for upcoming patient appointments and proactively identify potential scheduling or inventory concerns.

• Review upcoming appointments to ensure all medication, insurance, consent, and documentation requirements have been completed.

• Schedule and reschedule biologic injection appointments according to established departmental guidelines.

• Support patient assistance programs by collecting necessary documentation, including insurance information, income verification, and required signatures.

• Perform routine audits of patient records and tracking systems to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a healthcare administrative, medical office, patient services, or call center environment preferred.

• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.

• Experience working in Cerner EMR

• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Effective communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a medical office, call center, or healthcare administrative role preferred

• Experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Knoxville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
