Job Description and Duties

Under the general supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the Accounting Officer (Specialist) performs the more professional accounting work in the processing and maintenance of accounts and financial records for travel related activities the California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System.

Working Conditions

This position is located at:

The incumbent works in an office setting, with artificial light and temperature control.  Daily access to and use of a personal computer and telephone is essential.  Hybrid telework may be approved by the department.

Special Requirements

The SOQ must be in 12 pt. Arial font; have 1" margins; be limited to no more than two (2) single-spaced pages and be in narrative form (no bullet points). Describe your experience and skills in customer service, specifically when dealing with an employee or vendor who is frustrated about a delayed or denied reimbursement claim. Please provide a specific example.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Knowledge of the regulations listed in State Administrative Manual (SAM) pertaining to accounting
• Knowledge of the accounting cycle pertaining to budgeting, accounting, reporting, and auditing.
• Knowledge of and experience with Fi$Cal
• Ability to prioritize work assignments appropriately
• Ability to maintain accounting records using electronic filing systems
• Ability to determine program compliance with laws, rules, and regulations
