Technical Outreach Specialist - Energy Efficiency Location: Southern Nevada / Las Vegas Area Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Energy Efficiency / Energy Management Position Overview We are seeking a Technical Outreach Specialist to support commercial and industrial energy efficiency programs throughout Southern Nevada. This position combines customer engagement, technical project support, energy efficiency opportunity identification, and program implementation. The Technical Outreach Specialist will work directly with commercial customers, contractors, distributors, trade allies, and internal technical teams to identify energy-saving opportunities, develop projects, and move qualified projects through the program pipeline. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience in energy efficiency, building systems, HVAC, lighting, controls, facility operations, technical sales, or utility programs and enjoys working directly with customers. Key Responsibilities Engage commercial and industrial customers to identify energy efficiency and demand reduction opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with contractors, distributors, trade allies, facility managers, and other market partners. Support achievement of energy savings, demand reduction, participation, and project pipeline goals. Conduct customer site visits and facility walk-throughs to evaluate equipment and identify potential projects. Review energy efficiency applications, equipment specifications, savings calculations, eligibility requirements, and supporting documentation. Evaluate opportunities involving systems such as HVAC, lighting, controls, refrigeration, motors, compressed air, and building envelope improvements. Educate customers and contractors on available energy efficiency programs, incentives, technical requirements, and participation processes. Deliver presentations, customer briefings, contractor trainings, and other outreach activities. Track leads, customer activity, applications, and project status within CRM and program management systems. Coordinate with engineering, operations, program management, and other internal teams to resolve project barriers and keep projects moving forward. Maintain accurate documentation of customer interactions, site visits, project opportunities, and pipeline activity. Support weekly, monthly, and annual reporting related to outreach activity, project status, energy savings, and program performance. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, science, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered. 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Energy efficiency or demand-side management programs Technical sales or business development Commercial or industrial facility operations HVAC, lighting, controls, or building systems Utility programs Construction or energy-related project implementation Ability to understand and discuss technical building systems and energy-saving opportunities with customers and contractors. Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills. Experience managing multiple customer opportunities or projects simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience using CRM, project tracking, or lead management systems. Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable transportation for local customer and project site visits. Preferred Qualifications Experience with commercial and industrial energy efficiency or utility incentive programs. Knowledge of HVAC, lighting, refrigeration, motors, controls, compressed air, building envelope systems, and demand reduction strategies. Experience working directly with contractors, distributors, trade allies, facility managers, and commercial customers. Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar CRM platforms. Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Energy Manager in Training (EMIT), or another energy-related certification is a plus. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is technically minded but also comfortable working directly with customers. They can walk through a commercial or industrial facility, recognize potential energy-saving opportunities, discuss those opportunities with facility personnel or contractors, and help move projects from initial identification through application and implementation. This person should be organized, proactive, customer-focused, and comfortable balancing field activity with technical review, project coordination, CRM management, and reporting.
