Additionally, assists in improving the security architecture of the City. This position will also collaborate with various stakeholders to conduct technical assessments and contribute to the development of policies and procedures for the City. Work is performed under the general supervision of the IT Cybersecurity Manager. Essential Tasks & Responsibilities: Essential Responsibilities Conduct regular monitoring and analysis of network traffic for cybersecurity threats. Identify security anomalies and assess security controls for weaknesses. Mitigate and contain detected malicious activities to minimize damage. Investigate and resolve cybersecurity incidents or escalate as necessary. Stay informed on emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends. Conduct vulnerability assessments and lead remediation processes. Address compliance issues and remediate non-compliant devices. Maintain and update incident response playbooks based on lessons learned. Continuously enhance detection, investigation, and response capabilities. Support City departments' regulatory and compliance requirements. Communicate effectively with City departments, IT personnel, and technical vendors. Assist in developing cybersecurity awareness programs. Evaluate changes to network security architecture. Develop and maintain information security policies and procedures. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Security, or a closely related field. Minimum of three years of experience as an IT analyst or in information security. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Demonstrated experience with Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems. Knowledge of TCP/IP networks, routing protocols, routers, switches, hubs, and virtual machine servers. Proficiency in network troubleshooting, firewall management, IDS/IPS, VPN, and SIEM technologies. Familiarity with cybersecurity threat analysis and intrusion detection principles. Working knowledge of shell scripting languages. Understanding of information security principles, industry best practices, and relevant security regulations (e.g., CJIS, PCI). Ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical audiences. Ability to effectively troubleshoot complex network and computing problems. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with management, employees, vendors, and the public. Availability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends. Possession of a valid Driver’s License Ability to maintain professional judgment, composure, and effective performance during routine operations and high-pressure situations. Skill in communicating effectively and working cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, clients, and members of the public. Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to provide assistance, support, supervision, and leadership when required by the position. Capacity to adapt to changing operational demands, including periods of intensive activity, rapidly evolving situations, and periods of limited activity requiring sustained attention and professionalism. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in environments requiring close coordination and frequent interaction with others. Skill in managing competing priorities, making sound decisions under pressure, and maintaining appropriate workplace conduct. Qualifications: Physical Requirements Hearing/Speaking - Expressing and/or receiving information by means of spoken word are both necessary to converse with internal and external customers including co-workers, citizens and applicants. Visual Abilities – The ability to perceive via eyesight is required for this position: Acuity, Far – Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Must be able to see from a distance when administering and observing employment tests, operating a motor vehicle or addressing an audience. Acuity, Near – Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Must be able to see work-related business documents close at hand. Depth Perception – Three-dimensional vision and the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Field of Vision – The area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are focused on one point. Must be able to see a wide span of area. Accommodation – Must be able to adjust the eye lens to glance quickly. Physical Strength – Degree of physical demands typically associated with this position include: Light Work Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; and/or Exerting up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and A negligible amount of force to handle or move materials related to the position Type of Physical Demands Reaching - Extending the hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Mental Activity/Requirements Reasoning Ability to apply principles of logical thinking combined with knowledge of principles and practices of public personnel and employment laws to work tasks and handle practical situations, comprehend and respond to a variety of situations in a timely fashion and exercise good judgment. Mathematics Ability Using arithmetic and/or Statistics: Ability to direct and oversee the use of arithmetic and/or statistics in the preparation of a variety of tests and reports. Language Ability The ability to speak, read and write the English Language are required for this position. Environmental Conditions Hazards No hazards are associated with this job. Physical Surroundings The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes, however, on occasions the worker does have responsibilities outside the building and will be exposed to the various weather conditions.
