Head of Total Rewards

Overview IAT Insurance Group seeks a Head of Total Rewards to lead the Total Rewards Center of Excellence and drive strategy across compensation, benefits, wellbeing, and recognition. This hybrid role (Monday‑Wednesday on site, Thursday‑Friday remote) operates in Raleigh, NC; Cheshire, CT; Naperville, IL; Rolling Meadows, IL; or Alpharetta, GA. Responsibilities Lead the Total Rewards CoE, setting strategy, policies, and long‑term roadmap aligned with business and talent priorities. Define the overall rewards strategy across compensation, benefits, wellbeing, and recognition. Partner with business units to develop and implement comprehensive HR business solutions. Establish governance, policies, and ensure regulatory compliance, controls, and audit readiness. Manage the vendor ecosystem (brokers, consultants, administrators, survey providers) to drive service quality and cost effectiveness. Develop and maintain compensation philosophy, structures, and incentive frameworks informed by market intelligence and internal equity. Direct enterprise compensation programs and annual cycles (merit, incentive/variable pay) with clear guidelines and leader enablement. Partner with the CHRO on executive compensation and incentive governance. Serve as the compensation strategic partner to business leaders, in alignment with HR Business Partners and the Talent Acquisition CoE. Represent IAT in benchmarking and industry forums. Ensure compliance with state and federal guidance and prepare required reports and applications. Develop overall benefits, wellbeing, and recognition strategy, optimizing plan design, employee experience, and vendor performance. Build and coach the total rewards team, providing learning opportunities. Analyze existing benefit plans, trends, and competitive practices to align with business objectives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must Have: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred or required. Professional compensation certification (CCP, CECP, GRP) or benefits certification (CBP, CEBS) preferred. Minimum 12 years of HR experience in compensation and benefits program design, implementation, automation, and administration. Six years of experience in employee benefits planning, design, and administration. Expert knowledge of U.S. domestic compensation and benefits programs (executive, incentive, awards). Current knowledge of executive compensation laws, taxes, legal, and financial implications. Excellent ability to analyze compensation and benefits data and meet legal and regulatory requirements. Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws: ERISA, FLMA, FLSA, EEO. Understanding of U.S. compensation pricing and competitive pay structures. Experience with accounting and business practices applied to benefit plans. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS reporting systems, and payroll information systems. Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and management skills. Customer‑service orientation, creative problem‑solving, and conflict‑management skills. Authorized to work in the United States without future visa sponsorship. Preferred to Have: Workday experience.
