We are looking for a dependable Bookkeeper to support the daily financial operations of a construction company in California. This fully onsite role is a contract opportunity with permanent potential for someone who enjoys keeping records accurate, organized, and up to date while partnering with internal teams on accounting needs. The position will contribute to payables, receivables, reconciliations, reporting, and job cost support in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the complete accounts payable cycle by reviewing vendor invoices, coordinating approvals, and issuing payments on time.
• Manage customer billing and accounts receivable activity, monitor open balances, and follow up to help maintain healthy collections.
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements each month to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Record financial activity in QuickBooks Online and maintain organized documentation that supports each transaction.
• Use Bill.com to route invoices through approval workflows and support efficient payment processing.
• Build and update Excel spreadsheets, schedules, and financial reports, including analysis using formulas and pivot tables.
• Assist with month-end close tasks and provide reporting that helps leadership understand current financial results.
• Partner with project managers and company leadership to track project costs and support construction-related financial reporting.
• Follow established accounting practices and internal controls while helping with additional finance projects as needed.• At least 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in a business environment.
• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online is required.
• Prior use of Bill.com for invoice and payment management is required.
• Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliation processes.
• Advanced Excel capabilities, including formulas, spreadsheets, and pivot table reporting.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to keep financial records well organized.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
• Construction industry experience, including exposure to job costing or construction billing practices, is preferred.
