Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated healthcare professional to join our jail health operations team. The role involves providing direct clinical care, overseeing staff, and ensuring compliance with medical and regulatory standards. This position requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare in a correctional setting.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care: Conduct intake health evaluations, manage chronic care clinics, and perform urgent assessments.
Treatment & Prescriptions: Validate and dispense prescriptions, order diagnostic tests, and develop individualized treatment plans.
Policy & Compliance: Establish and enforce medical protocols to ensure jail health operations align with legal and regulatory standards.
Staff Oversight: Provide clinical guidance and supervision to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and nursing staff.
Administration: Collaborate with leadership and act as the liaison on medical issues and risk mitigation.
Requirements
Experience: Background in emergency medicine, family practice, internal medicine, corrections, or public health strongly preferred.
Education & Licensing:
Graduate of an accredited medical or osteopathic school (MD or DO degree).
Active, unrestricted South Carolina medical license.
DEA certificate required.
