Physical Therapist

Culbertson Memorial Client is a critical access hospital in a rural setting. The therapy department is over 90% outpatient, treating all ages and all diagnoses. The remaining 10% consists of inpatient/swing bed patients. The interdisciplinary therapy department consists of PT, OT, and Speech Therapy. Physical Therapists are responsible for evaluation, planning, directing, and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. They administer treatments and physical agents per the individualized Plan of Care to restore function. They assist patients in reaching their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The staff therapists coordinate, delegate, and supervise responsibilities assigned to supportive staff. They ensure that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis. All Therapy staff participate in infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety, quality, and fire safety programs. Responsibilities include the direction and supervision of any Physical Therapy support staff. Therapists observe and evaluate treatment effects and recommend changes to the physician as needed. They perform assessments on all patients, including pediatric, adolescent, geriatric patients, and the general patient population. They formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate the effectiveness of learning, including family in teaching as appropriate. They demonstrate knowledge and competency of physical therapy modalities and treat patients and their families with respect and dignity. Therapists identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. They manage and operate equipment safely and correctly while maintaining department cleanliness and safety. Professionals interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of the plan of care. They communicate appropriately and clearly with physicians and staff. They coordinate and direct patient care to ensure patient needs are met. Therapists maintain records pertinent to the personnel and operation of the department. They demonstrate the ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations. Maintaining good working relationships both within the department and with other departments is essential. Documentation meets current standards and policies. Professionals communicate the mission, vision, and values of the organization while maintaining standards of behavior. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
