The Correctional Industrial Facility is a level 2‑3, medium security Correctional facility for adult males. The Correctional Industrial Facility is located in Pendleton, Indiana. The Correctional Industrial Facility has various job opportunities available to incarcerated individuals to aid in the re‑entry process, including apprenticeships, maintenance, grounds crew, food service, sanitation, barbering, and manufacturing. Incarcerated individuals are also afforded the opportunity to earn their GED. Role Overview: As a Correctional Training Officer at the Correctional Industrial Facility, you will oversee a team of training officers for staff in a medium security correctional facility. During a typical day, you will be responsible for ensuring the scheduling of classes, assignment of instructors, and overseeing the security of the training center. As a department head, you will report directly to the Deputy Warden of Operations. This role supports a vital aspect of the facility. In this role, you will have a direct impact on ensuring staff know how to perform their duties in a safe and professional manner. You will also be working directly with new hires with the ability to directly influence their knowledge and help the facility leadership to promote a positive and supportive work culture. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: Conduct and assist in new employee, annual, and on‑the‑job training for all staff. Assist in the development of training curricula to meet specific performance objectives. Test, measure, and evaluate trainee performance based on established standards. Assist supervisor to ensure that all training programs, procedures, methods, and standards are in compliance with established standards. Maintain a variety of training records, course information, and prepare written reports. What You'll Need for Success: You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE). Two (2) years of full‑time experience in corrections, education, in‑service training, or related experience. Working knowledge of principles and practices of Staff Development and Training Division including Administrative Procedures. Working knowledge of “Adult Learning” principles. Working knowledge of training correctional issues, treatment programs, custody issues, ACA standards and departmental policies and procedure. Ability to present and execute detailed lesson plans. Ability to successfully complete all required training, including the Train the Trainer programs. Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
