About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Director, Development to lead and manage a fundraising team dedicated to securing financial resources in support of the institution's mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership and management of a team that includes principal gifts, major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, and gift planning. This role involves close collaboration with the Vice Dean and school leadership to shape and advance fundraising goals, as well as with various offices across the institution to ensure a cohesive and accountable fundraising strategy. The Managing Director will also be tasked with building, motivating, and mentoring the team to achieve stretch goals and will be expected to have a strong working knowledge of various fundraising programs and a proven track record in a complex organizational setting. Applicants for the Managing Director, Development position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years' experience in fundraising and management, with a preference for those holding an advanced degree. The role requires a leader with a minimum of 7 years' of supervisory experience, a solid understanding of fundraising principles, and the ability to work effectively in a data-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a professional disposition that allows for effective and empathetic interactions. A strong background in annual, major, planned, and principal gift programs, as well as experience in a university or related transferable setting, is highly valued. The position demands a strategic thinker who can develop and execute high-level fundraising and prospect strategies, and who is adept at building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
