General Purpose of the Position
The Business Development Manager is responsible for the administration and efficient daily operation of the office, including operations, product services, customer service and security and safety in accordance with the Bank’s objectives.
Responsibilities
Loan Origination
- Proactively solicits new business and sells products to meet established loan quality and production goals.
- Execute effective marketing plans to meet or exceed agreed upon production goals.
- Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine a customer’s financing objectives, advises customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines and gather any additional required information.
- Provide customers with sound lending advice based on a full understanding of client needs as well as the Bank’s products and their benefits.
- Monitors overall customer interaction and interfaces with all parties involved on each individual loan from application to closing.

- Maintain a complete and thorough knowledge of the Bank’s strategies, policies and procedures.
- Adhere to and comply fully with any and all of the Bank’s strategies, policies and procedures related to internal and external rules and regulations, particularly those established by State and Federal law.
- Continually identify, develop, and maintain a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new lending opportunities
- Keep informed of trends, changes and developments in the local market.
- Assist loan processing or servicing with client, attorney or appraiser document follow-up as determined through initial or post closing review.
- Other duties as assigned.
Management Responsibilities
- Manage policies, standards, practices and security measures for all department functions to ensure effective and consistent department operations.
- Manage branch personnel including training, mentoring and developing skills; monitoring, evlaluating and coaching performance; and staffing, scheduling, proritizing and delegating work assignments.
- Supervise the day to day operational functions of the office including, but not limited to, reconcilement of cash; oversight of teller operations and customer service duties and assist with customer transactions and inquiries.
- Develop, drive, monitor and report progress on office goals, objectives, standards and strategies.
- Develop and implement solutions to improve processes and performance when needed.
- Educate employees on all products and services offered.
- Administer branch budgeting, purchasing and record retention for business expenses
- Facilitate regular employee meetings to discuss goals, disseminate information and discuss operational issues.
- Perform and review tasks requiring manager level approvals.
- Professionally and actively promote a positve image of the Bank in the community.
- Develop and maintain effective business relationships with customers and employees.
- Greet customers, direct them to the appropriate area of the office and ensuring customer needs are met.
- Manage difficult situations with customers and provide them with a resolution, information or additional options.
- Develop and grow business and consumer relationships through proactive efforts.
- Any other duties as needed to drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by the Values of this organization.
Risk Management
- Monitor cash operations and prepare/review cash reconcilement to ensure assets are secure and within policy limits.
- Enforce and document, where appropriate, adherence to internal controls, policies, procedures and regulations.
- Responsible for the general maintenance of the facility.
- Ensure that all security procedures are strictly followed, branch is operationally sound and satisfactory audits are achieved.
- Ensure employees have working knowledge and understanding of emergency guidelines.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with all customer information obtained.
The Business Development Manager assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years’ experience in a lending or customer service environment.
- Solid understanding of direct/indirect lending products and practices.
- Knowledge of BSA and other applicable regulations.
- Excellent customer service skills, attentiveness, information retention, tact and diplomacy in dealing with both customers and employees.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Position involves personal contact with others within the Bank and customers, generally regarding confidential information.
- Demonstrates a high degree of self-motivation and strong decision-making skills.

- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Experience with Microsoft Office and related computer programs

- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required; this would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
- This position requires frequent verbal and written communication skills
- This position requires basic math skills to calculate change (money), formulas, commissions, discounts, etc.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
