SummaryThis is a clinical genetic counselor position for the pediatric genetics clinic at Texas Children's Hospital. The genetic counselor in this position will see patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting in pediatric genetics clinic at Texas Children's Hospital main campus. The genetic counselor will also have the opportunity to supervise and teach genetic counseling graduate students, clinical and laboratory fellows, and other learners. The genetic counselor filling this full-time position will join over 30 genetic counselors within the Texas Children's Hospital system. The main responsibilities include staffing and coordinating the pediatric genetics clinics, genetic counseling clinics, and providing services to the genetics inpatient consult service at Texas Children's Hospital. Job DutiesWorks collaboratively with all members of the inpatient consult team (attending geneticists, fellows, residents, graduate students).Meets patients in the inpatient hospital setting for genetics evaluation.Obtains medical and family history of the pediatric patient during the inpatient and outpatient clinic settings.Counsels patients and families regarding results in the outpatient and inpatient settings.Arranges follow-up appointments as indicated.Acts as part of a team of pediatric genetic counselors who participate in bimonthly meetings.Supervises genetic counseling students.Provides excellent care to patients.Works collaboratively with all members of the genetics team. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in Genetic Counseling.No experience required.Board-eligible or Board Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).Work Authorization Requirement:This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
