The Unit Secretary is responsible for assisting assigned patients in the activities, treatments, procedures and tests under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or other designated individuals. The duties of the nursing assistant are carried out in accordance with the state and local laws and the nursing policies and procedures of the utilizing institution. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. Proficiency with medical vocabulary and general understanding of hospital policy & procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Completion of a Secretarial course and/or a Medical terminology course.
