Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate clients' mental health and substance use concerns, identifying any co-occurring disorders.

• Work alongside clients to create individualized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based interventions tailored to their unique needs.

• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing techniques that focus on developing coping strategies, relapse prevention skills, and emotional regulation techniques.

• Coordinate care by collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, ensuring that treatment is comprehensive and tailored to each client’s needs. This includes regular communication with psychiatrists, nurses, and addiction specialists.

• Engage in ongoing substance use monitoring and apply motivational interviewing techniques to bolster client engagement and commitment to recovery.

• Educate clients and their families on the connections between mental health and substance use disorders, emphasizing the significance of adherence to treatment plans.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment interventions, progress notes, and referrals in compliance with ethical and legal standards.

• Participate in team case conferences, staff meetings, and training opportunities to enhance your knowledge of co-occurring disorder treatment methodologies.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on assisting clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. You will work with a diverse range of individuals, including those facing anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance dependence, and other related issues. The role demands a compassionate approach that nurtures client trust to facilitate open dialogue and effective treatment.

Qualifications\n

• Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California.

• Demonstrated proficiency in evidence-based therapies for co-occurring disorders, such as Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (IDDT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

• A solid understanding of the relationship between mental health and substance use disorders, coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills that allow for effective team collaboration.

Preferred Experience\n

• At least 2 years of post-graduate experience in a clinical setting providing care to clients with dual diagnoses.
