HVAC Mechanic IThe Department of General Services, Facilities Management Division (FM) is responsible for facility maintenance and management, including preventative maintenance, work order processing and reporting, vendor management and capital planning. FM works behind the scenes to ensure the city's departments and agencies can function at their best. The FM Division staff is responsible for providing a full range of building services including plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical, painting, and maintenance of doors, windows, walls, ceilings, floors, among other services. Through seven teams, FM is responsible for maintaining over 8,000,000 million square feet of buildings and structures in over 140 city-owned and leased facilities, sites and structures. For more information on the Department of General Services, please visit the General Services website.The Facilities Management Division (FM) within General Services is seeking a task?oriented, highly skilled HVAC Mechanic I to join Team B, supporting Public Safety Facilities. This role provides essential services for Denver Fire Department stations and Denver Police substations, which are occupied 24/7. We are seeking an individual who genuinely enjoys troubleshooting challenges across a wide range of environments. The person selected for this role will become part of a world?class team that supports agencies and facilities throughout the City and County of Denver.As an HVAC Mechanic, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing facility systems. This includes using automated control systems to manage electrical and mechanical building systems. You will handle daily operations and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, such as air handling units, domestic cool and hot water systems, sump and sewage systems, diesel generators, and fire protection systems.In addition, as the HVAC Mechanic you will:Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment and machinery which may include some fabricationInspects buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning systems and conditionsAssists with installation and modification of building equipment systemsOversees or performs repair, testing, and troubleshooting of building equipment systemsEvaluates and recommends equipment and service upgradesAssists in coordinating maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians for contracted workOrders parts and supplies as required and maintains stock and inventory controlMaintains records and prepares reports, and estimates materials, labor, and equipment costsObserves all common safety practicesPerforms snow removal dutiesOur ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:The ability to service multiple facilities across the City and County of DenverJourneyman HVAC license and Professional experience in troubleshooting and repairing large building HVAC systems in facilities exceeding 100,000 sq. ft. in sizeExperience in operating Building Automation Systems (BAS)Current Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) LicenseBOMI designation such as Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA) or Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT)IFMA credential such as Facilities Management Profession (FMP) or Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP)LEED CredentialIREM or BOAC designationPrevious professional experience utilizing Automated Work Order systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteRequired Minimum QualificationsEducation Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.Experience Requirement: One (1) year of journey-level HVAC experience maintaining, repairing, and constructing HVAC systems and equipment.Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.License/Certifications: This job requires driving.
