Job Title: DC Area Manager Job Overview An Area Manager is a motivated, customer‑focused position responsible for leading a team of hourly workers and maintaining Bob’s core values. You will collaborate closely with other team members to encourage a diversified workforce, maintain open communication throughout the operation, and protect customer expectations through sustained operations. Key Responsibilities Support, mentor, and motivate the workforce. Lead efforts in safety, quality, and productivity to ensure customer satisfaction. Demonstrate proficiency in talent management by evaluating performance and completing employee reviews. Collaborate with other team members or departments to develop plans and navigate barriers to achieve business objectives. Define roles and priorities for the workforce. Continuously monitor and optimize team performance for efficiency using key performance indicators. Financial Acumen / KPI / Sales‑Driven Focus: Meet and exceed key performance metrics including financial targets and customer satisfaction scores; manage labor costs, productivity rates, and budget adherence; track KPI’s such as UPH, cost per unit, on‑time shipping, and fill rate; understand P&L impact of the operation and drive cost efficiencies. Customer Satisfaction: Enhance the customer experience; meet commitments by focusing on quality and accuracy; respond quickly to service failures and implement corrective actions. Process Improvement: Streamline workflows and implement improvements (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma); drive initiatives. Strategic Thinking and Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with business objectives; support labor, capacity, and peak readiness strategies. Preferred Competencies and Skills Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Prior experience in a high‑volume retail or furniture distribution environment. Experience supporting peak‑season operations with fluctuating volume and staffing. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in a warehouse environment, with at least 2 years of leadership or management experience. Understanding of supply chain and distribution center operations. Experience using a warehouse management system (WMS) – preferably SAP, along with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proactive and effective communication skills. Must be at least 18 years old. Physical Demands Stand, walk, lift, and reach; push or pull and move items weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance. Move objects up to 250 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations. Stand and walk continuously; standing, walking, lifting, and arranging product: 80% of time. Sitting, desk and phone work: 20% of time. Compensation Starting annual salary of $67,000 – $80,000 (based on experience) + bonus potential.
