Job Details Level: Experienced Job Location: Alliance Center for Education - CHARLOTTE, NC 28205 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 4 Year Degree Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Day Alliance Center for Education is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Family Engagement Specialist. The responsibility of the Family Engagement Specialist is to assist families in their homes or community in promoting Head Start’s Parent, Family and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework. A Family Engagement Specialist will work with families to improve the quality of family life while connecting families to the appropriate community resources for the utilization of services. A Family Engagement Specialist will also assist in the outreach and recruitment process to help maintain funded enrollment of age eligible children in all programs. This position requires flexibility and reliable transportation. Responsibilities Create and maintain a positive working relationship with parents; provide regular feedback on child’s ongoing developmental successes and challenges and assist parents in taking an active part in parent training, volunteering in classrooms, parent groups and Policy Council; serve as liaison with parents when children are absent or ill. Engage in a collaborative partnership with individual families in their homes or community to develop a Family Partnership Agreement where family goals are identified, family strengths are recognized. Act as liaison between parents, Center Manager, teachers and community partners by providing feedback on parent issues and priorities. Participate in regular supervision with supervisor and provide regular updates. Remain current on knowledge of standards and other program-related information. Enter data for record keeping and reporting to meet relevant guidelines. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years experience working with families. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Human Services, or Child and Family Development. Master’s Degree preferred. Must have a working knowledge of Head Start policies, procedures, and performance standards. Oral and written fluency in English required; Spanish fluency preferred. Additional language skills always welcome. Family Development Credential is a plus. Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools such as laptops/desktop computers, email, smartphones, internet, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Must have reliable transportation to visit client homes and other designated community locations. Must demonstrate high comfort level around various home conditions. Must demonstrate ability to work flexible schedule to meet the needs of families. Must provide superior customer service and have the ability to de‑escalate parent concerns. Must demonstrate current knowledge of community resources. Must be able to work independently as well as routinely contribute within a team. Must have strong computer skills and the ability to enter family data in Child Plus software and analyze family data. Must be able to demonstrate the organizational values of Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability. Must pass a pre‑employment physical, TB test, extensive background check including fingerprints, drug test, and be subject to random drug screening post‑employment. Compensation Compensation Range: $45,000 to $50,000. Eligible for a $500.00 hiring bonus following successful completion of 90 days of employment with documented performance evaluation.
