Job Opportunities School of Social Work Lecturer Pool 2026-2027 Job No: 557288 Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer Location: San Diego The School of Social Work in the College of Health and Human Services at San Diego State University is accepting applications for its part‑time lecturer pool. Applicants should have expertise or experience in one or more of the following areas: Social Work Direct/Clinical Practice (including motivational interviewing and other treatment modalities) Social Work Administration Macro Practice (policy, administration, management, organizations and community development) Social Work Research and Evaluation Social Work: Health, Mental/Behavioral Health, Substance Use and Addiction Children, Youth, Families Gerontology, Aging, Older Adults Temporary appointments may be full‑time or part‑time. Part‑time appointments are typically made just before the start of an academic term; applicants should be available on very short notice. The Fall term begins mid‑August and ends late‑December; the Spring term begins mid‑January and ends mid‑May. Summer Session teaching opportunities may also be available. Initial appointments are usually one semester or one academic year and are renewable based on satisfactory evaluations and continued availability. Qualifications Requirements: Graduate degree in Social Work from a CSWE‑accredited MSW program (required for teaching social work practice courses, preferred for other areas). At least two years of post‑master’s related experience. Demonstrated currency in subject matter. University teaching experience preferred. Salary Information Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring school. Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range.
