Business Development Manager (M&A)

Ambition

We are partnered with a leading international law firm in its search for a Manager, Client Development to support its high-performing Mergers & Acquisitions practice. Based in New York, DC or Boston, you will play a key role in supporting the strategic growth of the group, working closely with senior stakeholders including the Chief Client Officer and Director-level leadership. This is a highly visible position combining strategic business development, client relationship management, and profile-raising initiatives, alongside core BD responsibilities. You will work closely with partners and cross-functional teams to deliver impactful initiatives that drive revenue, strengthen client engagement, and enhance the firm's market position. We are keen to connect with individuals with Business Development, Client Development, or Marketing experience within a law firm or professional services environment. Prior exposure to M&A or corporate transactional practices will be advantageous. We are open to candidates stepping into a Manager role as well as those with prior management experience seeking a broader and more strategic remit. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support the development and execution of business development strategies and action plans for the M&A practice and related industry groups Manage the preparation of pitches, proposals, and RFP responses, alongside internal presentations and practice management initiatives Drive profile-raising activity in collaboration with communications teams, including events, speaking opportunities, and media initiatives Develop and maintain marketing collateral, including practice descriptions, capability statements, and deal experience Conduct market, client, and competitor research, providing insights to support strategic decision-making Oversee directory and award submissions, ensuring strong positioning across key legal rankings Lead the planning and execution of client events and engagement initiatives, ensuring high-quality delivery and client impact Support client relationship management and key client programmes, contributing to long-term client development strategies Maintain BD systems, engagement databases, and reporting to ensure accurate tracking of activity and opportunities Manage and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading M&A team in a role that offers strong exposure to senior leadership and involvement in high-value, strategic initiatives.
