ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the banking and sales finance accounting functions. This role is responsible for the review and supervision of account reconciliations and journal entries tied to banking activity and sales finance operations, including retail installment contracts, dealer floorplan, F&I products, lender remittances, and related cash flows. The Accounting Manager will oversee a team of accountants and analysts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in a high-volume, transaction-intensive environment where meeting close deadlines is critical. The position requires strong technical accounting expertise, a control-oriented mindset, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with Treasury, Sales Finance, and Dealer Services teams. The ideal candidate will drive process improvements, maintain compliance with internal controls and audit standards (including SOX where applicable), and serve as a primary contact for internal and external auditors. Experience in the automotive industry is highly preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Review and approve account reconciliations for all banking and sales finance general ledger accounts, ensuring reconciling items are identified, aged appropriately, and resolved in a timely manner.
• Review and approve journal entries related to banking transactions, sales finance activity, dealer/lender settlements, and cash application.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accountants and analysts responsible for preparing reconciliations and journal entries; provide day-to-day guidance and technical review.
• Partner with Treasury, Sales Finance, and Dealer Services teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment of banking relationships, lender payoffs, floorplan activity, and related sales finance transactions.
• Ensure account reconciliations and supporting documentation meet internal control standards and are audit-ready, including SOX compliance where applicable.
• Identify and drive process improvements to reduce manual effort, improve reconciliation turnaround, and strengthen controls over banking and sales finance accounts.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including variance analysis and reporting on banking and sales finance balances.
• Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors on banking and sales finance-related account activity.
• Escalate and resolve discrepancies, unusual reconciling items, or control gaps in a timely manner.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant time spent in banking and/or sales finance accounting (automotive industry preferred).
• Proven experience reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries at scale.
• Prior experience supervising or managing a team of accountants or analysts.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP as it relates to financial instruments, cash/bank accounting, and sales finance/lending transactions.
• Experience working with ERP and reconciliation tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, BlackLine, or similar) preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA a plus but not required.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and a control-oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex reconciling items to non-accounting stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven close environment.
