ASCP MRI Technologist - Night Shift

Job Summary: Deliver exceptional healthcare services by performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and related procedures to produce detailed sectional anatomic images.


Essential Responsibilities:
1. Conduct MRI procedures with precision, ensuring patient clinical history aligns with the imaging protocol and is properly documented for licensed practitioners.
2. Prepare patients by providing clear instructions to achieve optimal results, reduce anxiety, and encourage cooperation.
3. Operate MRI equipment and accessories, selecting appropriate scanning parameters and protocols as directed by radiologists.
4. Position and immobilize patients comfortably to best capture the anatomical area of interest while applying magnet safety principles to protect patients, staff, and self.
5. Assist licensed physicians during procedures and manage both physical and psychological patient needs throughout imaging.
6. Perform venipunctures, administer contrast media safely, and maintain all technical equipment used in imaging and patient monitoring.
7. Evaluate image quality, adjust display parameters, and ensure accurate documentation and record keeping.
8. Initiate basic life support when necessary and perform diagnostic radiographic procedures as needed.
9. Educate patients and their families about tests and procedures in a compassionate manner.
10. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the imaging area, report equipment issues, and contribute to supply management.
11. Provide practical training to students and healthcare professionals and participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives.


Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology.


Experience:
- Proven experience as a radiographer with a solid knowledge base to perform MRI procedures successfully.
- Ongoing education in cross-sectional anatomy is expected.


Requirements:
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R)) by ARRT or equivalent.
- State certification as required.
- ARRT MRI certification (R.T.(MR)) at hire or within two years of employment.


This position includes night shifts and may require on-call duties to provide technical support outside regular hours. The role is based in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
