The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration, communication, and compliance of employee benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, and wellness initiatives. This role serves as a subject matter expert and strategic partner, ensuring that benefit offerings are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals. Duties and Responsibilities Administer and manage employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA, etc.) Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries from employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Assist with annual open enrollment processes, including system testing, employee communications, and employee enrollment. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA). Benefit reporting to analyze data, monthly billing reconciliations, and verify accuracy of enrollment data with outside vendors. Partner with payroll and HRIS teams to ensure accurate benefits deductions and data integrity. Support audits, filings, and reporting requirements (e.g., 5500s, ACA reporting). Assist in the development and delivery of employee education and wellness programs. Qualifications and Education Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred 5+ years’ experience with administration of benefit programs Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations. Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate to various levels of employees and management. Solid analytical capabilities, decision making skills and ability to exercise appropriate judgement. Strong organization skills; ability to effectively prioritize workflow from multiple sources. Able to collaborate effectively with team and other departments as needed. Ability to multi-task, work with a sense of urgency and flex to the work style of others. High learning agility; strong initiative; self-starter with a positive attitude. Strong sense of integrity and ability to effectively manage and maintain confidentiality of information. Self-directed; accountable. Solid financial acumen; skills in MS Word and Excel required; proficiency with PowerPoint preferred. Experience with benefit administration platforms; working knowledge of Workday preferred.
