Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly patients, identifying specific emotional and psychological care needs, and developing personalized treatment plans.

• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions that address the complex emotional challenges related to aging, such as depression, anxiety, and the adjustment to significant life changes.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on elderly clients dealing with the various challenges that come with aging. This includes guiding them through grief from loss, assisting with transitions such as moving to assisted living or coping with chronic health issues, and providing emotional support to help them maintain a sense of dignity and joy in their later years.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology or a related field.

• Completion of a full-time clinical internship in a mental health setting, with a focus on gerontology being advantageous.

• Must be license eligible in the State of New York.

• A valid driver's license in good standing to occasionally meet clients or attend community workshops.

• Exceptional communication skills with a strong ability to build trust and rapport with clients, especially seniors and their families.

• Demonstrated skills in empathy and active listening, paired with the ability to guide clients effectively through their emotional challenges.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational proficiency to manage client records and treatment plans effectively.

Preferred Experience\n

Ideal candidates will have prior experience working with seniors or in settings focused on geriatric mental health. Familiarity with evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques specifically designed for this age group will be beneficial. Experience with using electronic health records (EHR) and telehealth platforms is also preferred.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 70,000 to 100,000, commensurate with experience, along with a competitive sign-on bonus.
