Business Development Director, NORAM

DSV Road GmbH

Position Summary The Business Development Director will be success‑driven, customer‑oriented and always seeking new opportunities. This hunter position focuses on selling contract logistics solutions, identifying new opportunities, developing value propositions, managing the internal bid process and stakeholder relationships, presenting and negotiating, and closing deals. Ideally, the individual will have an established network in the fast‑moving consumer goods vertical. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop a “trusted advisor” relationship with all relevant stakeholders internally and externally, including decision makers. Think outside the box and provide thought leadership. Deliver results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time. Develop a personal sales strategy that ties into overall corporate goals. Provide timely and accurate revenue and profitability forecasts. Proactively identify industry and economic trends that can impact DSV Solutions business. Communicate sales plans and status to management. Support a world‑class sales organization in the region within approved budgets and continually increase personal ROI. Knowledge Management Keep abreast of regional and industry developments. Help DSV capture mindshare by marketing/speaking at events. Actively contribute to expanding the company knowledge base. Contribute to corporate projects. Culture Treat the client as the highest priority. Balance the win for the client with the win for DSV Solutions. Pro‑actively participate in the processes of the company. Actively use and manage sales force automation IT. Turn in reporting on time and complete. Follow DSV defined processes. Represent DSV in the community. Act in accordance with DSV’s corporate governance and effective controls. Minimum Required Qualifications 3–5 years of contract logistics experience with demonstrated success in the contract logistics industry. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other Requirements Experience building relationships and trust with clients. Well‑versed in supply chain management. Both sales‑oriented and operationally inclined – able to sell and deliver. Familiar with solution‑selling concepts and methodologies. Strong consultative selling skills – listening, attention to detail, ability to probe and offer insight. Ability to sell custom solutions. Self‑motivated with a competitive drive. Strong organization, communication and decision‑making skills. Team player willing to share best practices with team members. Ability to quickly establish trust and build long‑term executive‑level relationships with clients. Aspired to be part of a world‑class sales organization and thrive as part of a high‑performing team. Ability to establish partnerships by selling at a higher level and avoiding transactional business models. Familiar with local business etiquette and customs of the region. Perform other duties as assigned. Demonstrated Competency Business planning. Training design and teaching. Act as a team player. Serve others before themselves. Project personal mastery. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Intermediate knowledge of financial/accounting/budgetary terms and processes. Computer Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Working knowledge of Windows XP, Windows 7, Internet Explorer. Comfortable working with MS Dynamics and knowledge‑management tools. Language Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills and fluency in English. Preferred Qualifications 5 years of operational experience in the supply‑chain/logistics industry. Physical Demands The employee will use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee will use computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision. The role may require occasional standing, walking, and lifting, and includes domestic and international travel. Work Environment Noise level is usually low to moderate.
