Chesterfield, MI • Full‑Time • Competitive Pay & Benefits About the Role We’re looking for an experienced Toolmaker with a strong background in manufacturing indexable cutting tools, including tool bodies, pockets, seats, and insert‑holding features. You’ll work hands‑on with CNC grinders, mills, lathes, and inspection equipment to produce high‑accuracy tooling used in demanding machining environments. Key Responsibilities Indexable tool fabrication — Manufacture tool bodies, pockets, and insert seats to tight tolerances. Precision grinding — Grind critical surfaces, reliefs, and profiles for insert fit and repeatability. Blueprint interpretation — Read complex prints, GD&T, and tool geometry requirements. CNC machining — Program and operate CNC mills/lathes for tool body production. Inspection & quality control — Verify pocket dimensions, seat angles, runout, and alignment. Tool assembly & testing — Fit inserts, check clamping systems, and validate tool performance. Material knowledge — Work with carbide, tool steel, and coated components. Continuous improvement — Suggest improvements to geometry, processes, and tool life.
