Senior BI Developer - Power BI & Cognos

Senior Bi DeveloperRandstad is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior BI Developer with deep expertise in Power BI and IBM Cognos to support one of our premier federal clients in Washington, DC. This role is ideal for a data-driven professional who excels in translating business needs into actionable insights through interactive dashboards and reports. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in data modeling, transformation, and visualization using Power BI, while also maintaining and enhancing legacy reporting in Cognos. This is a hybrid role that requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models using DAX and Power QueryCollaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into effective BI solutionsMigrate and modernize existing reports from Cognos to Power BI where appropriateMaintain and enhance existing IBM Cognos reports in both development and production environmentsEnsure data accuracy, integrity, and performance across all reporting solutionsUtilize Power BI Service for sharing, publishing, and collaborating on reports and dashboardsCreate and optimize SQL queries for data analysis and reportingWork with multi-dimensional and relational data structuresStay up to date with BI best practices, tools, and industry trendsSupport end-to-end BI project lifecycles, from requirements gathering through deployment and maintenance
