Director of Accounting and Finance

The Director of Accounting and Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for directing the finance and accounting operations for Cobblestone Fruit and its related entities. This position ensures the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and alignment of accounting practices with organizational goals. The Director of Accounting and Finance will oversee the Company’s Accounting, Finance, and Grower Accounting departments, as well as serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Manage a team of three direct reports (Controller, Grower Accounting Manager, and Sr. FP&A Analyst), and eight indirect reports
• Oversight and management of the financial reporting process for 12+ entities
• Monthly financial statement preparation and analysis
• Annual budget preparation with monthly review and analysis
• Facilitate annual year-end tax planning, work closely with outside CPA firm to oversee tax return preparation
• Oversee and refine the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, providing leadership with timely variance analysis, scenario modeling, and recommendations to guide resource allocation and business strategy.
• Review monthly financial statements prepared by the Controller and present to CFO for review and strategic decision-making.
• Provide executive-level leadership to the accounting and finance team, including hiring, developing, mentoring, and succession planning to build a high-performing function.
• Play a key role in organizational performance management, partnering with senior leadership to evaluate results, provide insight on key drivers, and support data-driven decision-making.
• Work closely with leaders in each department to support the company’s overall success
• Work directly with the CFO on special projects
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing financial perspective on strategic opportunities, risks, and initiatives.
• Perform other duties as necessary to support the success, growth, and sustainability of Cobblestone Fruit and its affiliated entities.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Strong alignment with the Company’s mission, values, and commitment to integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement, serving as a role model for ethical and professional standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA designation strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or finance required, including at least 5 years in a leadership role, overseeing complex, multi-entity, and multi-departmental operations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements, with a proven track record of establishing and strengthening robust internal controls.
• Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, assess risk, and provide actionable insights that guide executive decision-making and long-term planning.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, including building and mentoring high-performing teams, driving accountability, and developing talent pipelines for succession planning.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and significant experience with ERP/accounting systems; exposure to system implementations, automation, or process transformation projects preferred.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with a history of leading large-scale accounting operations across multiple entities and business segments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build credibility at all levels, including executive leadership and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, with demonstrated success in driving process enhancements, operational efficiencies, and strategic initiatives.

Physical Demands & Abilities

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working on a computer.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds (e.g., files, reports, or laptop equipment).
• Visual acuity to read detailed financial reports, spreadsheets, and computer screens.
• Ability to occasionally walk short distances, including visits to operational areas such as packing facilities or field offices.
• Ability to work in a standard office environment with occasional exposure to varying temperatures if visiting field or operational sites as needed.
• Availability to work onsite in Sanger, California.
• Competitive compensation commensurate with experience, estimated at $180,000/year or higher DOE
