HumanKind Ministries (HK) has been serving the Wichita community since 1885, focusing on assisting individuals and families living in poverty. HK a family shelter, manages 155 units of safe and affordable housing, and offers a variety of basic needs and supportive services. The organization is committed to helping low-income individuals achieve stability and self-sufficiency through its programs. Additionally, HK runs street outreach initiatives for the unsheltered homeless and leads Operation Holiday, the region's largest holiday assistance program, providing critical support during the winter months.

HumanKind Ministries is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Development Director to lead and grow our fundraising efforts. This is an on-site senior leadership role partners closely with the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and Development Committee to expand donor engagement, strengthen retention, and diversify revenue streams.

The Director will oversee all development initiatives, including major gifts, annual fund, grants, special events, and volunteer engagement. This role also leads and supports the Development team while managing a portfolio of key donors and cultivating new funding opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies
• Manage and grow major donor and prospect portfolios
• Increase donor engagement, retention, and overall support
• Oversee annual fund campaigns and special events
• Identify and pursue new funding sources, including grants and corporate partnerships
• Supervise and develop the Development team

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5+ years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or related field
• Proven success securing major gifts ($5K–$100K+)
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and leadership skills

Compensation:

Base salary of $60,000–$80,000, plus performance-based incentives tied to individual and organizational goals.
