SVP Controller

Job Description

A global investment bank is hiring a senior controller to own accounting and external reporting across a portfolio of regulated and SEC-registrant entities. This is a senior, hands-on role at the center of the finance function. You’ll partner with SEC reporting, corporate accounting, regulatory reporting, tax, treasury, and legal, and act as the finance lead on new transactions and entity restructurings.

What you’ll own

• Accounting and financial oversight for a group of broker-dealer and public-vehicle entities under U.S. GAAP.
\n
• The monthly and quarterly close, including review of consolidation, investing, financing, intercompany, and income tax entries.
\n
• Review of quarterly and annual financial statements for external reporting.
\n
• Review of periodic and transaction-related SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and registration statements).
\n
• Balance sheet substantiation and accrual review, with escalation of key issues to senior management.
\n
• Variance commentary on balance sheet and P&L results for leadership.
\n
• Accounting guidance on new structures, transactions, and entity changes.
\n
• Process improvement, control enhancements, and systems upgrades in partnership with technology.
\n
• Coaching and developing a team of accounting professionals.
\n

What you bring

\n
• CPA required, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
\n
• 12+ years of financial accounting experience in financial services. Big 4 experience preferred.
\n
• Hands-on experience with consolidated financial statements and SEC reporting.
\n
• Broker-dealer, legal entity control, or multi-entity reporting experience is a strong plus.
\n
• A track record of leading close processes and mentoring staff.
\n
• Strong technical judgment and clear business writing.
