Accounts Payable Manager

Thank you for considering Progyny!We're hiring a talented hands-on Accounts Payable Manager to lead the day-to-day Accounts Payable function while actively participating in invoice processing, payment execution, vendor management, reconciliations, and issue resolution. This role is responsible for ensuring that vendor invoices and employee expenses are processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and internal controls.The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented working manager, comfortable balancing team leadership with transactional responsibilities in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.What you'll do...Manage and actively participate in the complete accounts payable cycle, from invoice receipt through payment and reconciliationReview, code, and process vendor invoicesPrepare, review, and execute payment runs via ACH, wire transfer, check, and other approved methodsMaintain accurate vendor records, including payment terms, tax documentation, banking details, and contact informationEstablish and enforce controls for vendor setup and changes to help prevent errors and fraudReview employee expense reports and corporate card transactions for accuracy and policy complianceReconcile accounts payable subledger activity to the general ledger and resolve outstanding differencesMonitor outstanding invoices, payment status, discounts, credits, duplicate payments, and aged itemsRespond promptly to vendor inquiries and resolve payment, pricing, and invoice discrepanciesManage annual Form 1099 preparation and filing, where applicableSupport cash-flow planning by providing accurate payment forecasts and upcoming obligation reportsPartner with Procurement, Accounting, Treasury, Operations, and other departments to improve the procure-to-pay process.Develop, maintain, and enforce Accounts Payable policies, procedures, and internal controls.Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and increased efficiencySupport internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and explanationsSupervise, train, and develop accounts payable team members where applicableTrack and report key performance indicators such as invoice-processing time, on-time payment rate, exception volume, and outstanding itemsProvide coverage for daily accounts payable activities and perform other accounting duties as neededAbout you...BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required5-8 years of progressive accounts payable or accounting experience requiredPrior supervisory or team-lead experience preferredStrong understanding of entire accounts payable and procure-to-pay cyclesExperience with general ledger reconciliations, accruals, and month-end closeKnowledge of vendor tax reporting, including Forms W-9 and 1099Successful experience managing electronic payments including ACH and wire transfersStrong Microsoft Excel skills required, experience with Intacct and Concur preferredProven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlinesOutstanding customer-service and communication skillsAbility to handle confidential financial and vendor information appropriatelyExperience in a high-volume, multi-entity, or multi-location environment preferredSuccess in This RoleThe successful candidate will maintain an accurate and efficient accounts payable operation, ensure vendors are paid on time, strengthen controls, resolve issues quickly, and improve processes while remaining directly involved in daily accounts payable activities.Please note: This is not a digital nomad or remote international position; candidates must be based in the United States. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required.
