This is a key role for our company. We need someone who has expertise in ductwork, piping, equipment installation, and low-voltage controls, along with the ability to interpret blueprints, coordinate with trades, and ensure code compliance. This person will work closely with our install team and leadership to install, modify, and commission a wide variety of systems. We need someone who is hungry, organized, trustworthy, and excited to help maintain our high standards of quality craftsmanship from the ground up. What You'll Do Blueprint Reading & System Layout: Interpret HVAC drawings, blueprints, and technical diagrams to design and lay out HVAC, ductwork, piping, and control systems. Determine routing and optimal equipment placement based on structural requirements. Material Takeoffs & Procurement: Generate accurate material take-offs for assigned projects and coordinate with procurement or supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of parts and equipment. System Installation: Install, modify, and repair HVAC, hydronic, and refrigeration systems. Fabricate and install ductwork, and install piping systems using various methods (cutting, threading, brazing, soldering, pressing, grooving, gluing, expanding). Equipment & Component Setup: Install furnaces, boilers, condensers, air handlers, fan coils, rooftop units, refrigerant lines, condensate drains, gas lines, venting, and humidification systems. Controls & Low Voltage Systems: Install and connect thermostats, sensors, relays, and zone controls. Program and troubleshoot HVAC control systems to ensure proper integration of mechanical and control components. Testing & Commissioning: Perform pressure testing, leak detection, system flushing, evaporation, and refrigerant charging. Test systems for proper operation using gauges, meters, and diagnostic tools to verify performance. Communication & Coordination: Collaborate with general contractors, engineers, inspectors, and other trades. Provide updates on project progress, issues, and changes to align with project schedules. Code Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all work complies with national, state, and local HVAC codes while maintaining accurate documentation of installations, materials, and test results. Quality Control & Troubleshooting: Inspect installations for accuracy, diagnose and resolve system issues or installation conflicts, and recommend improvements in methods and materials. Decision-Making & Problem Solving: Make field decisions regarding routing, system adjustments, and component selection, adapting to site conditions with practical solutions. Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA standards and company safety procedures, use proper PPE, maintain a clean, organized work environment, report hazards, and participate in safety training. HVAC Systems Include, but are not limited to: Furnaces & air handlers Boilers (gas & electric) and hydronic systems Heat pumps (air-to-air and air-to-water) Air conditioning systems and refrigeration components Split systems (ducted and ductless / mini-splits) Rooftop units and packaged systems Fan coils and booster fans Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERV) & Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRV) Exhaust fans and make-up air systems Humidification systems Refrigerant line sets and condensate systems Gas piping, venting, and closed-loop hydronic piping Radiant, baseboard, and snowmelt systems Low-voltage controls, thermostats, relays, and sensors Competencies & Work Habits Core Values & Professionalism: Demonstrates integrity, a positive attitude, and a commitment to a respectful, professional work environment. What We're Looking For/Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 6,800 hours OR 4 years of relevant experience in the HVAC industry. Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record preferred. Must be 18+ years of age. EPA Certification required. Proficiency in using, safely operating, and maintaining power tools required for HVAC tasks. What Success Looks Like Installation projects are completed accurately, on schedule, and up to code. Equipment, ductwork, and piping are laid out efficiently, maximizing system performance and structural aesthetics. Systems are meticulously tested, commissioned, and documented with zero leaks or operational callbacks. Clear, professional communication is maintained with general contractors, inspectors, and internal team members. A safe, clean, and organized job site is maintained daily in accordance with OSHA standards. Physical Requirements Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing, sitting, or walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly, and maneuver heavier items with assistance. Comfortable working in tight spaces (crawl spaces, attics, mechanical rooms) and at heights (climbing ladders, working on rooftops). Ability to stand, kneel, bend, squat, and crouch for extended periods. Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for precise work with tools and small components. Tolerance for exposure to hot, cold, wet, and humid conditions in both indoor and outdoor environments (homes, businesses, and construction sites). Exposure to dust, debris, fumes, potential allergens, and hazardous materials (glues, primers, refrigerant, gas lines). Ability to wear and work in protective gear (gloves, masks, eye protection). Strong vision for reading gauges and blueprints; good hearing for detecting system noises, leaks, or alarms. Schedule & Compensation Schedule Standard Hours: Shift starts at 7:00 a.m. with 10-hour workdays (includes a 30-minute paid lunch and 2 paid 10-minute breaks). Days: Monday through Thursday (4-day workweek). Seasonal Flexibility: End times vary by season. Slower seasons typically range from 35–40 hours/week; peak busy seasons can range from 40–60 hours/week. Overtime is available with prior approval. Compensation Hourly Wage: $35.00 to $50.00 per hour (based on experience). Eligible for performance-based bonuses and incentives.
