Director of Real Estate & Development

Location: St. Louis, MO
Salary: $110,000–$130,000 annually
Travel: Occasional travel may be required

We are seeking a Director of Real Estate & Development to provide strategic leadership for a diverse portfolio of real estate, facilities, and development projects. This position will oversee property acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, construction and capital projects, facilities management, property maintenance, and related financial and operational activities.

The Director will serve as a key leader in managing the organization's real estate strategy and will collaborate with executive leadership, finance, legal counsel, contractors, architects, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure properties and projects are managed effectively and in alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of the organization's real estate portfolio, including acquisitions, dispositions, leases, and property due diligence.
• Lead construction, renovation, development, and capital improvement projects, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within approved budgets.
• Oversee lease negotiations, property transactions, financial analysis, and related legal and compliance requirements.
• Manage property insurance claims and coordinate with insurance carriers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Direct property maintenance, inspections, preventative maintenance programs, facilities, grounds, and related building operations.
• Develop and oversee departmental budgets, capital planning, and facility improvement initiatives.
• Build and manage relationships with contractors, architects, consultants, attorneys, vendors, and other strategic partners.
• Lead, mentor, and develop property and facilities personnel, including hiring, performance management, and professional development.
• Establish and maintain preferred vendor relationships and oversee vendor performance and project-related expenditures.
• Oversee the implementation and use of real estate, lease management, and project management systems.
• Ensure real estate activities and properties comply with applicable policies, regulations, contractual requirements, and tax-exemption guidelines.
• Provide real estate and facilities guidance to organizational leadership and staff.
• Travel to properties throughout the division as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
• MBA or advanced degree is strongly preferred.
• Experience in corporate real estate, commercial real estate, property development, or a related discipline.
• Construction, development, or capital project management experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams.
• Strong financial, negotiation, project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while working with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
