About JobsFirst Southern Nevada (JobsFirst SNV)

JobsFirst Southern Nevada , developed and based on the JobsFirst NYC model, creates and advances solutions that break down barriers and transform the systems supporting young adults and their communities in the pursuit of economic opportunities. Since 2006, JobsFirst NYC has worked with more than 240 partners across government, philanthropy, employers, and education to design scalable models that shape policy and practice. In 2024, JobsFirst NYC launched JobsFirst (dba JobsFirstUSA) to incubate and accelerate workforce funder collaboratives and intermediaries outside of New York City with trusted local anchor partners.

In close partnership with Workforce Connections and supporting the Opportunity Youth Coalition Strategic Plan, JobsFirst Southern Nevada has been launched through this partnership in the Summer of 2026.

JobsFirst Southern Nevada will serve as a workforce intermediary focused on working with partners across Southern Nevada—helping local partners build coordinated, community-driven workforce solutions that expand economic mobility for young adults and strengthen the overall region’s economy.

The Opportunity: This is a founding Executive Director role. The person hired will launch and grow a new nonprofit organization with national backing, local partnerships, and a clear mandate: to expand economic mobility for young adults and their communities in Southern Nevada.

The Executive Director will be both builder and leader: setting the vision, raising resources, building partnerships, hiring staff, and representing JobsFirst Southern Nevadaacross the region. While this is a start-up, a lot of exciting work and momentum has been generated over the past several years. The Executive Director will work closely with JobsFirst for technical assistance, strategy support, and accountability, and with Workforce Connections, Southern Nevada’s Workforce Development Board, for local partnership access and alignment.

Reports To: The CEO and President of JobsFirst and The JobsFirst Southern Nevada Board of Directors. The Executive Director will also maintain a strategic advisory relationship with the CEO and President of JobsFirst USA to ensure alignment with national initiatives.

Direct Reports: As the founding Executive Director, this role will initially be responsible for all operations, with the authority to hire and manage future staff (e.g., Manager, Development Director) as funding allows.

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment. Candidates must be comfortable with a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends for Board meetings or community events.

Key Responsibilities

Vision & Strategy

• Shape and execute JobsFirst Southern Nevada’s founding vision, aligned with the vision of JobsFirst, expanding economic mobility for all young adults.
• Identify regional priorities and design innovative, collaborative workforce solutions.
• Position JobsFirst Southern Nevadaas a thought leader in workforce and economic development.

Organizational Leadership & Management

• Launch and lead a new nonprofit, including operations, compliance, and budgeting with support.
• Hire, supervise, and support a small but growing staff.
• Partner with and support a founding Board of Directors to set direction and ensure strong governance.
• Build an organizational culture grounded in collaboration, trust, and accountability.

Fundraising & Sustainability

• Develop and implement a fundraising strategy with diversified revenue streams (e.g., foundation grants, corporate philanthropy, government, fee-for-service).
• Cultivate and steward funders and donors to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
• Work closely with JobsFirst to align funding strategy with national network and goals.

Partnerships & External Engagement

• Serve as the primary ambassador for JobsFirst Southern Nevada, representing the organization in community, regional, and national forums.
• Build strong partnerships with local employers, schools, colleges, workforce organizations, government, and philanthropy.
• Strengthen the regional network in terms of collaboration and leverage JobsFirst’s broader network for shared learning and impact.

Qualifications

We recognize that there are many paths to strong leadership. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of the following:

• 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit, workforce development, or public sectors.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent executive leadership/life experience required. Master’s degree (MPA, MBA, or JD) preferred.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with experience in building or growing an organization, initiative, or major project.
• Proven track record of successful fundraising, including grant writing and individual donor cultivation.
• Knowledge of workforce development, economic mobility, or related fields (preferred but not required).
• Experience working in or deep familiarity with the Southern Nevada region is a strong plus.
• Excellent communicator and relationship builder across diverse stakeholders (business, government, community, philanthropy).
• Ability to thrive in a start-up environment—strategic yet hands-on, comfortable wearing many hats.
