Special Education Teacher – Full-Time Position
Location: Streamwood, Illinois
Start Date: August 5, 2026
End Date: June 2027
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) to support students with diverse learning needs in a full-time role in Streamwood, IL. This position is ideal for professionals with a strong background in working with students with severe autism and a passion for creating inclusive, structured learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with student IEPs
- Provide direct instruction to a small caseload of students (no more than 8)
- Manage classroom behavior using evidence-based strategies
- Write, review, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to ensure student success
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
Position Details
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Caseload: Limited to a maximum of 8 students
- School Assignment: To be determined
Requirements
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement
- Experience working with students with severe autism
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and compliance
- Ability to manage a classroom and implement behavioral interventions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a self-contained or structured SPED classroom
- Familiarity with autism support strategies and assistive technologies
