Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital requiring TNCC certification and prior trauma experience.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma, teaching hospital with 228 staffed beds
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:30-8:00)
• Every other weekend (EOW) and holiday coverage required
• No floating to unlike units required, but candidates may float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• No on-call responsibilities
• Not open to block scheduling
• Uses Cerner Soarian (1st generation) charting system

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC (PALS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care and management, starting and maintaining IVs
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Triage experience required
• Two supervisor references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency department nursing care including triage, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Facility is easily accessible by public transportation, with the Shaw/Howard University Metro stop nearby
• Returning staff must have a break in service of at least 1 year before reapplying
