Registrar-AIDS Center-Greenwich Village-Mount Sinai Hospital-Full Time-Days The Registrar is responsible for the business aspect of the department as well as the patient focused care delivery within the department. Activities include: registration, insurance verification and notification, updating of financial and demographic information, reception and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Greet and direct patients, visitors, and staff. Answer telephones promptly and courteously. Direct calls to appropriate personnel and/or departments, take messages and assure delivery of same. Collect and distribute patient referral information received from affiliated physicians. Escort visitors and patients to appropriate areas; provide information to assist patients and/or visitors. Distribute departmental reading material such as emergency department brochure, health care proxy, and patient bill of rights. Ensure such documents are readily available. Register patients by updating or entering patient demographic, financial information and emergency contact data into the computer system. Verify demographic information and insurance coverage by interviewing patient/family member/friend. According to policy and established procedure generate patient chart and attach pertinent information such as emergency card, Medicaid threshold and EMS sheet, etc. Review discharged patient charts for diagnosis, physician signature, dictation code, menu and appropriate forms for completion according to policy and established procedure. Process specimens for laboratory by assuring that specimens are appropriately labeled, forms are completed and identification processes have been followed according to established policy and procedure. File charts and retrieve old records. Retrieve completed charts, addressograph plate and all supporting documents from patient treatment area. Enter data into required computerized system. Maintain patient recall file. Ensure all papers, forms, etc. are stamped appropriately according to policy and established procedures. Log patients on/in to the appropriate registration sheets/logs and reconcile log books. Obtain signatures for consent. Make clinic appointments. Other duties as assigned. Shared Duties and Responsibilities Across Department Greet visitors and answer telephones promptly and courteously. Escort visitors to appropriate area. Provide information and make referrals when appropriate. Answer call system and refer to appropriate staff. Maintain a safe, clean and functional environment, including removing trash and bringing physical plant and equipment problems to the attention of managers. Transport patients on stretchers or wheelchairs, as required. Assist in interpreting, as required by current protocols. Qualifications High school graduate or GED. 6-9 months of health care experience preferred to become familiar with institutional policies and procedures. Certified Application Counselor designation as authorized by NYS DOH if primary duties are related to financial assistance program (preferred). Compensation Statement The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $25.43 - $27.33 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
