Job Title Staff Nurse – Emergency Department Float Pool – Mount Sinai West – Full Time (Day) 7am to 7:30pm plus every other weekend. Description Responsible for the care activities and goal achievements of assigned patients by assessing, diagnosing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems and evaluating patient’s response to care. Responsible for health teaching and discharge planning. Acts as a member of a designated care team and collaborates, coordinates and guides team members in planning patient care activities. Demonstrates behaviors that reflect the scientific knowledge, judgment and teaching skills of a professional nurse. Responsibilities Conduct nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation and review of records of the patient Ensure that the patient’s progress, or lack of progress, is reflected in progress notes and in the revised care plans Develop discharge planning consistent with the patient’s status and reflect inter‑departmental and inter‑agency communication Communicate information to the patient based on the patient’s level of awareness and readiness to learn Support orientation of new staff members by observing professional behaviors, providing feedback, and acting as a preceptor, role model and resource person Act as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers Assign patient care tasks reflecting an awareness of patient needs and skill level of personnel Organize provision of care to meet priority needs of patients and unit Communicate patient condition and unit needs requiring additional intervention to leadership in the relevant discipline Participate in development of other staff members Communicate with peers in appraisal of practice as it relates to self and other nursing personnel Demonstrate a collaborative effort in meeting patient and unit needs through communication and nursing actions Provide direction, assistance and support Assume accountability and responsibility for completion and quality of assigned tasks Identify and communicate to immediate supervisor the need for further staff education Show awareness of authorities and responsibilities of nursing management levels through communication with nursing leadership Seek and utilize nursing leaders as role models and resource persons Show collaborative effort in meeting patient and unit needs by communicating with other disciplines Interact with families and other groups reflecting the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the Hospital Center Qualifications Graduation from an accredited Nursing program. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) RN who is matriculated in a BSN Program with a graduation date within the year Any Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) RN with Nursing experience must be approved by the CNO Documented previous experience or educational preparation to support credentials. The salary range for the role is $64,235.3 - $64,235.3 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
