About the Position

Job Title: Step-Down RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: 2+ years of recent Step-Down experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac monitoring Dysrhythmia interpretation IV start and maintenance Blood product administration BiPAP/CPAP management Description: The Step-Down RN will provide care for patients transitioning from critical care. The unit specializes in diagnoses such as Congestive Heart Failure, post-heart catheterization, and respiratory failure. Care includes post-heart catheter monitoring and frequent vital sign and neurovascular checks. The nurse is expected to manage cardiac drips and administer emergency medications as needed. Skills in infection prevention, isolation precautions, and phlebotomy are also important for this role. The nurse should be proficient in managing dysrhythmias and sedation procedures. Support from interdisciplinary teams, such as respiratory services and pharmacy, is available. Candidates must have recent experience in a similar setting and possess the required certifications. Flexibility for weekend coverage is necessary as part of the role.
