Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of relevant experience License: Registered Nurse License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience in a high-acuity setting Description: The Registered Nurse will work in the Emergency Room. This position requires proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias and managing dysrhythmias. Nurses will care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure. Skills in central line care and management are essential. The role involves administering continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors. Familiarity with BiPAP/CPAP management and interpretation of arterial blood gases is necessary. Experience in caring for ventilated patients and following isolation precautions is required. Triage experience is important, as is blood product administration. The ability to start and maintain IVs is essential. Knowledge of cerebrovascular accidents (CVAs) is needed. The nurse will be responsible for independently measuring telemetry strips and accurately interpreting cardiac rhythms for telemetry patients. A minimum score of 80% on a general telemetry assessment is required during orientation. If the assessment is not passed, additional training and remediation will be provided. The assessment includes identifying heart blocks, various arrhythmias, and understanding normal interval durations on telemetry strips. Appropriate clinical interventions for arrhythmias must be understood. This position may involve working with peers to ensure proper coverage during requested time off. First-time travelers may be accepted on a case-by-case basis, depending on experience. Returning travelers are eligible to return as long as they are in good standing.
