Job Description What You Will Do at ODM: Office: Data & Integrated Systems Classification: Software Development Specialist 4 (PN 20102567) Primary Technology: Snowflake Architecture, Enterprise Data Engineering, and Platform Development Job Overview: The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is seeking a highly skilled Lead Snowflake Data Engineer with advanced Snowflake and enterprise data engineering expertise to drive the design, development, and optimization of our modern data platform. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives in designing scalable architectures, improving data reliability, and enabling analytics across the organization. Key Responsibilities Designs, builds, and optimizes Snowflake data architectures, including tables, views, materialized views, and Dynamic Tables. Implements and maintains Snowflake security models (RBAC, column-level, row-level security). Leads performance tuning using clustering strategies, warehouse sizing, and query optimization. Develops ELT/ETL pipelines and support medallion-layered data architecture. Manages schema changes, CI/CD deployments, and automation of data workflows. Analyzes business requirements and translates them into scalable data models and technical designs. Creates and maintains technical documentation, standards, and architecture artifacts. Oversees testing, validation, and performance assessments for platform enhancements. Troubleshoots production issues and ensures environment readiness for updates. Provides technical mentorship and guidance to engineers and project teams.
