CNC Swiss/Mill Turn Machinist - Evenings (2:00pm - 10:30pm)

JOB SUMMARY The CNC Swiss/Mill Turn Machinist programs, sets up, and operates Swiss style and Mill Turn CNC machines along with a variety of other machine tools. Working from part prints, process sheets, quality documentation, and CAD models to produce precision components to print. The Swiss Machinist promotes a work environment that is positive, safe, seeks to continuously improve, and is focused on meeting the goals and objectives of the organization. POSITION TITLE CNC Swiss Machinist SHIFT HOURS 2:00pm – 10:30pm (evenings) LOCATION Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Level I Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements. Read and understand part drawings and basic GD&T. Perform accurate and timely job tasking, line clearance, and production reporting of work orders. Conduct in-process inspection of components to ensure conformity to quality requirements using precision measuring instruments. Set-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines for production parts. Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment. Level II All essential functions of Level I Review complex drawings and GD&T. Program and troubleshoot complex tool paths. Troubleshoot complicated process issues independently. Support training of Level I Machinist and Operators. Work independently and in a team environment. Work with other departments on projects, designs, and process improvements. Level III All essential functions of Level II Program, set-up, run parts, inspect, and make adjustments to produce conforming parts with no supervision. Support Discovery and Engineering on rapid prototyping and urgent request. Write and implement Macros. Monitor Hourly Productivity & Quality report and take action to resolve issues to meet daily targets. Participate in daily KPI meeting focused on identifying and resolving issues impacting ability to meet daily and weekly targets. Senior All essential functions of Level III Mentor new employees and evaluate training requirements to meet KPI targets. Support and train new employees on work order line clearances to reduce any delays to downstream processes. Recommend and research new machines, software, and capabilities. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES All other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Level I High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of trade school preferred. 1-2 years’ experience setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required. Level II High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of trade school preferred. 3-5 years’ experience programming, setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required. Level III High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of trade school preferred. 6+ years’ experience programming, setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required. Advanced programming experience required; Partmaker/Esprit experience preferred. Senior High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of trade school preferred. 8+ years’ experience programming, setting-up, and operating Swiss style and Mill turn machines required. Advanced programming experience required; Partmaker/Esprit experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Level I Basic shop math skills. Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria. Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment. Basic understanding of GD&T. Level II Knowledge of SPC preferred. Good working knowledge of GD&T. Programming experience preferred. Able to run variety of shop equipment. Experience working with close tolerances in a variety of metals. Level III/Senior Capable of writing complex multi axis programs. Strong working knowledge of GD&T. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Frequently required to lift and/or carry from 10-30 lbs. Some heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs. Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to eight hours per day in a manufacturing environment. Regularly required to talk and/or hear, see, handle, reach, see color, and perform repetitive motion.
