This position requires a commitment to providing exceptional care to a diverse patient population, including individuals with complex surgical needs, gunshot wounds, and spinal cord injuries. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on a high acuity floor. Monitor and manage the health status of patients, ensuring timely interventions. Collaborate with healthcare teams, including emergency department nurses and admitting unit staff during nurse handoffs. Maintain professional nursing standards while adhering to hospital policies and procedures. Utilize EPIC for electronic medical record documentation. Patient Population This role involves caring for patients with various conditions, including: Surgical patients Gunshot victims Individuals with quadriplegia and paraplegia Team Support The unit is supported by Nursing Support Technicians and phlebotomists, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1. A unit secretary is available during the night shift to assist with administrative tasks. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical/Surgical specialty. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred. Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records system is essential. Willingness to work flexible shifts and adapt to the dynamic needs of the unit. No requests for time off (RTO) will be accepted.
