Job Description And Duties Are you interested in joining a dynamic team of attorneys to represent California agencies responsible for protecting California’s environment and natural resources? The Natural Resources Law Section is seeking motivated attorneys with experience in state and federal litigation to handle cases critically important to the protection of the state’s environment and to further our client agencies’ missions of protecting and fairly managing our state’s natural resources. Scope of Work Represent state agencies in complex and impactful civil litigation in state and federal courts at all stages—from pre‑litigation advice and investigation through trial and appeal. Prosecute civil environmental enforcement cases as plaintiff’s counsel and defend state agency actions as defense counsel. Assist boards and commissions with compliance matters such as open meeting laws. Work on cases involving air pollution, water rights and supply, water quality, CEQA, hazardous substances, endangered species, wildfire cost recovery, timber harvest plans, and related business and corporate issues. Collaborate with the Office of the Solicitor General on matters that reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
