About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour or Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Overall 2 years of acute care nursing experience required. At least 1 year of PCU experience required. License: Valid compact or state nursing license required. Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required. Must-Have: High acuity PCU patient experience required. Infection prevention protocol knowledge required. Patient fall prevention experience required. Description: The unit focuses on medical oncology with progressive care beds. It accommodates pediatric patients but requires no specific pediatric experience. The patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology cases. The unit operates a telemetry system with specialized monitoring equipment. Overall staffing ratios aim for 1:4-5 for Med-Surg and 1:3 for PCU. Staff may be required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity. A strong emphasis on infection control and fall prevention is essential. Nurses are expected to perform various technical skills such as IV management, blood product administration, and dysrhythmia interpretation. Experience with rapid response teams and the management of chemotherapy is preferred but not required. Interdisciplinary support is available through physical therapy, social services, and pharmacy. Nurses will engage with a diverse patient population and be part of a collaborative healthcare team. Weekend shifts are variable based on unit needs.
