divh2Armed Security Officer/h2pUnder general direction, provide for a safe and secure school environment, foster an optimal learning environment and act as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior by patrolling the campus, monitoring student behavior, enforcing school and District policies, intervening in physical encounters, monitoring security cameras, monitoring visitors, and reporting unsafe or unhealthy conditions. Patrol and monitor assigned school campus to provide security and protection to students, personnel, equipment, and property; maintain campus security and protect District property against vandalism, illegal entry, fire, and theft; enforce laws and regulations and respond to emergency situations./ppQualifications:/ppMinimum Education/Certification:/pulli3-5 years in Law Enforcement or/lili3-5 years in armed security (Level III Security Certificate) or/lili3-5 years in active-duty military/liliTexas DPS-Issued valid License to Carry, required/liliBachelors degree, preferred/liliBilingual: Fluent in English and Spanish, preferred/li/ulpSpecial Knowledge/Skills:/pulliKnowledge of emergency operations planning./liliKnowledge of NIMS and FEMA./liliKnowledge of health and safety programs and applicable laws./liliWorking knowledge of security-related technology (security cameras, video exporting, access control systems, telecommunications, etc.)./liliStrong public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills./liliExceptional work ethic, self-initiative and attention to detail./liliExcellent judgment and the ability to make sound, reasonable decisions while under pressure./liliExceptional writing and verbal communication skills, including in the context of fact-gathering, investigation of incidents and drafting informational reports./liliPass a standard fitness exam annually./liliObtain a passing score (90% +) on a pistol qualification course bi-annually./liliPass a psychological evaluation upon hire and every two years./li/ulpMajor Responsibilities and Duties:/pulliPatrol and monitor the campus and surrounding areas to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff, and the security of the facility./liliDisplay ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school./liliPromote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a role model and dressing and grooming professionally. Wear District designated attire in a presentable manner during assigned work hours./liliAssist the staff, police, and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations./liliAssist visitors with directions and securing proper identification.
