Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity supporting elementary students in a specialized educational environment, focusing on those with developmental and cognitive delays. As the onsite special education professional for the upcoming school year, you'll collaborate within a dedicated team and create an inclusive, nurturing space where each child’s individual needs are prioritized. The assignment is expected to start in late August and extend through mid-June, with regular weekday hours set to establish consistency for both students and staff.
Qualifications:
- Active Minnesota Teaching License with Tier 3 or 4 certification specifically in Special Education (required for presentation)
- Proven experience working with elementary school-aged children with developmental and cognitive delays in a center-based classroom
- Strong ability to develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Experience collaborating with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and parents/guardians
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a caseload of elementary students with DCD needs, designing individualized curriculum and behavioral supports
- Foster a supportive, engaging classroom environment that encourages academic and social progress
- Assess students’ strengths and needs, adapting methods and materials to enhance learning outcomes
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams regarding student progress and goals
- Consistently track and document student development, making data-informed instructional decisions
